FAQ's

The Hive by VH Interiors is a General Store & Beverage Bar located in Altrincham, Greater Manchester.
We have been selling
antiques, homewares, gifts and many more products online since 2015.

Our customer service is highly praised and we go above and beyond to resolve issues and answer questions. We have compiled some FAQ's below, but if you have any other questions, don't hesitate to message us
  • What is your return policy?
    **Returns** We hope you are happy with your purchase, but if you are not satisfied with your item for any reason, you can return it for a full refund. To return an item, please contact us within 14 days of receiving it. * You will be responsible for the cost of return shipping. * Items must be returned in its original condition. * If the item is damaged or has been used, we may not be able to offer a full refund. **Refunds** We will refund you the full amount of the items returned. However as a small business I'm sure you will understand that we are unable to burden the costs of the shipping. Therefore the original enhanced postage costs won't be refunded and the return shipping costs are to be paid for by the customer. We will process your refund within 14 days of receiving the returned item. **Exceptions** We do not accept returns for the following items: * Customised items * Items that have been used or damaged * Items that are not in their original condition **Exchanges** If you would like to exchange an item, we will be happy to do so.   • When will my order be sent?
    Orders are usually prepared the same or the next business day as the date of purchase. Our business days are classed as Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. We will update you with a tracking link as soon as your order is ready for the courier to collect. An additional transit time of 2-3 days is then added to this estimate for UK shipping. This can be 6-7 days for international orders.
  • Can I amend my order?
    If you need to amend your order, please contact us within an hour of placing it. We'll do our best to help with your order, but if it has already been packed and handed to our courier, it cannot be amended.
  • Do you ship internationally?
    We do ship internationally. However, international orders may be subject to import fees, duties, or tariffs that are determined by the country of delivery. We are not responsible for these charges, nor are we able to calculate them prior to shipment. We advise that you work with your local Customs office to determine these charges prior to placing an order. If a shipment is refused due to unwanted fees, duties, or tariffs imposed by Customs in the country of delivery, you will be charged for both original and return shipping, as well as all associated fees. Please understand that delays due to Customs processing are out of our control.
  • Is your packaging eco-friendly?
    We would say so yes! Since day 1 we have only ever sent parcels using "used" packaging. Obviously we still make sure items are packed in a manner that makes them nice to unwrap, we can even gift wrap if needed! Every cardboard box we have ever posted since 2015 has been reused, it has either been donated to The Hive by local residents or businesses, or we have previously received parcels in that box. Packing material inside the box is usually a combination of new kraft paper (made from 100% recycled content, recyclable, and biodegradable) and clean, repurposed packing material that we receive in shipments from our suppliers. Reused materials are often paper-based, but may occasionally include compostable sheep wool wraps, air pillows, bubble wrap or packing peanuts . Fact: Bubble wrap can be recycled at soft plastic recycling points such as those in Coop, Asda, Tesco & Aldi.
  • Do you sell gift boxes?
    Yes! We will be adding gift boxes to our online shop over the next few weeks, but in the meantime if you send us a message telling us what you would like we can send that on your behalf. Alternatively if you don't know what you want, let us know a price range and a few bits about the recipient such as relationship to you, gender, age and hobbies.
  • Do you sell gift cards?
    Yes. We have gift cards starting at £20 with denominations increasing in £5 increments.
  • Where do you source your stock from?
    The General Store is carefully curated with products sourced from all over the world. We have a few rules when sourcing new products though, apart from all of the products being of excellent quality; for sustainability reasons we prefer them to be made from sustainable and plastic free materials as well as either being made in the UK, vintage or sourced on our travels.
  • Are you dog friendly?
    Absolutely! All dogs regardless of breed are welcome at The Hive both on the seating area and in the store. We have plenty of free dog treats on hand too.
  • Are you allowed to sell knives online?
    Yes, we are allowed to sell knives online as long as we comply with all applicable laws and regulations. All of the knives available to buy are compliant with UK knife laws and we only sell knives to buyers over the age of 18. Please note all orders containing a bladed article are subject to verification and will only be accepted once age verification checks are completed. Please be aware as part of our age verification process, we will ask you to send a picture of your ID (which must include your name, age and delivery address) along with a selfie with your order number. These will be subjected to Challenge 25 checks by a staff member before posting an age restricted product out! All parcels containing a bladed article will be clearly marked to indicate that it contains a bladed article. All parcels containing a bladed article will be sent by an age verified & signed for method, so the parcel will only be delivered into the hands of a person aged 18 or over. All parcels containing a bladed article will not be delivered to a locker or PO Box. As a UK based online knife retailer we take the sale of knives very seriously and we have completed a set of training modules created by Tradings Standards, Metropolitan Police Service and the Mayors Office for Policing and Crime. Our lawful basis under GDPR for processing your information for age verification is our legal obligation to ensure that persons purchasing age-restricted items are of the minimum legal age to do so. All data is handled sensitively and securely.
